If I want to apply for a Police Officer position what do I need to do?
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be a High School graduate or received a passing grade on the G.E.D. test accompanied by 12 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 grade point average.
- Possession of a valid (Texas) driver license.
- Be eligible for licensing by the Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
- At least 21 years of age and not have reached their 45th birthday.
- Be proficient in reading and writing the English language.
- Meet all physical agility requirements.
- Eligible applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must not have been convicted for any offense of a class B misdemeanor or above in the last 10 years.
- Applicants that have been arrested on felony charges and not convicted may not be considered.
- Applicants that have two or more separate moving traffic violations in their driving record (prior two years) may be disqualified.
- Never been convicted for family violence.
- Has not been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions.
- Bilingual applicants (English & Spanish) will be given greater consideration.
- Applicants that are licensed police officers will be given greater consideration.
